There is a common issue when setting up sales tax rules and then not seeing them applied to customer orders.

For the customer orders, the tax calculation is based on the handling method:

  • Deliver - System will take the Customer address as a base of tax and if there is no tax rate for that address, tax will not be calculated.
  • Ship - Similar to delivery, system will take customer address as basis for calculating tax
  • In-Store Pickup - In this case, tax is based on the store address and is calculated the same way as sales transactions


NOTE: You will need to create a new tax rate and add it to tax rule for delivery/ship taxes to work.
