This article shows how you can configure your BlockChyp payment terminal to collect electronic signatures on credit card transactions.
The first step is to log into your BlockChyp online account and review your Merchant Profile in the Blockchyp dashboard.
Navigate to the Terminal Settings tab and be sure that the checkbox "Digital Signature" is enabled.
You should now be ready to collect signatures in MicroBiz Cloud. There is no option or setting that has to be enabled in MicroBiz Cloud in order to collect signatures on Credit Card transactions.
When the signature is collected you will see this printed on the MicroBiz receipt.
Limitations on When a Customer Will Be Prompted for a Signature
Not every transaction will display a prompt for a signature. The prompt will depend on the type of card used, how it is tendered and the size of the transaction.
With MicroBiz Cloud the payment terminal will collect the signature depending on the card entry method:
1.- If the customer use the CHIP reader ==> The payment terminal will collect the signature
2.- If the customer use the card SWIPE option ==> The payment terminal will collect the signature
3.- if the customer use the TAP option ==> The signature will not be required. Usually for contactless EMV there will be less card types that require a signature, as this feature was designed to have the least amount of customer interaction possible.
Even for chip or swipe the bank may not require the signature for some cards and in those cases signature will not be collected. The same applies for TAP, even for TAP some banks may require the signature collection and in these cases the payment terminal will ask for signature.
There is no option in MicroBiz cloud to force the signature collection. The whole process depends on Blockchyp and the Bank and the card entry method.
Best Practice if You Want to Collect Signature for Printing on the Receipt
If you want to collect the signature, be sure that the customer uses the EMV chip reader (or the swipe option) if you want to collect the signature.
When the signature is collected you will see this printed in the receipt/invoice otherwise there will not be signature.
